Game Play: Tac City South El Monte, CA

Hey airsofters! Grim here with some photos from our time at Tac City North in South El Monte, CA. Ironhead and I were their this past Sunday, and we got some great game shots and pics of the field that the refs were kind enough to let us take between rounds.

Arriving at the field, the first thing you see is the pro shop. Gear and guns are mounted throughout, with bb's, green gas and various accessories on prominent display in glass cases. A safety video is on a constant loop, which shows how important safety is to Tac City. The staff was very welcoming, asking if we'd like to stow our gear in the staging area before paying. As any airsofter will tell you, the first thing you want to do when you get to your field of choice is put down all of your damn gear.

The first games, and subsequent matches, came quickly. The refs were great about turning matches around quickly so you definitely get a high volume of games. The majority of the matches were force on force, with one or two scenario types thrown in. Because of the cab nature of the field, there weren't any respawn matches, but this wasn't an issue.  Compact guns with high rates of fire tend to rule on this field, with all of the corners and short engagement distances lending an advantage to those with shorter barrels/guns.

When playing on a new field, or any field for that matter, it's always a good idea to either bring a teammate or find some other players who don't mind you tagging along. Having someone that can watch your six while you're pushing up can mean the difference between getting some good kills and sitting out the rest of the match.

Ironhead with his Wellfire G3 R8. His JG M4 S-System is a bit too hot for CQB. He was not pleased.

During our time their, we met some cool and rather interesting players. The staff was great, and we had a blast talking and playing with everyone. My only issues with the El Monte facility are the lack of seating and table space. I advise you to bring your own table and chairs and limit the amount of gear you take to what is essential. Nothing worse than someone taking up space with unnecessary gear.

Working as team not only has the benefit of making your matches last longer, but if you communicate and use effective teamwork, other players will notice and want to play along side of you. From newbies to seasoned vets, everyone wants to have a good time out their and not spend their time sitting here...
