Airsoft Events: Tac City Boot Camp

Hey there airsofters, Grim here with some info on an upcoming event for those of you that are new to the sport of airsoft and those that want to hone their skills further. Tac City North (South El Monte location) is conducting their annual summer boot camp from June 25th through June 29th, July 23rd through July 27th and August 27th through August 31st.

This would be a great opportunity for those of you out there who have no idea what a buffer tube is, or what the hell the other players are talking about when they yell "watch your flank!" As you can see from the info below, there are some great bonuses to be had for signing up, not the least of which is a FREE GAS BLOWBACK PISTOL OF YOUR CHOICE when you sign up for all three weeks. If you've ever been in the Tac City pro shop, you know that they have some pretty sweet KWA pistols that can get as expensive as $200.00. Not to mention all the free swag that I'm sure the vendors will be providing for those in attendance. Hope to see y'all there. Yeehawww! Sorry, I don't know where that came from. It's late. Good night.

Ultimate Stroller!

<p>Hey airsofters, Grim here! The latest in child safety and zombie eradication has finally arrived! Brought to you by the folks at Blast-O, this bad boy/girl features a 12 gauge shotgun for crowd control &amp; a spare rack for the assault rifle of your choice. The three wheels allow for quick turns when you need to juke the shambling undead and the deep tire tread helps you push through entrails while nit disturbing your little ones slumber. For preorders, keep checking out this blog!

Airsoft Events: Operation Black Shield

Hey airsofters! Grim here with a quick update on an upcoming airsoft only event: Operation Black Shield. SC Village held this event last year, so I'm guessing the scenario, field availability and other good stuff will be the same.

So far, SC Village has only released the briefest of promo videos for it, which you can view below, but the event is to be held on July 14th through the 15th. You can purchase a one day ticket for $50.00 or a two day pass here (scroll to the very bottom for the two day option). Two day entry on the day of the event will be $95.00, so my suggestion is to preorder for $70. Here is a rundown of how the weekend will be broken down:

Itinerary

Saturday - July 14th, 2012

0700-0930: Registration Begins/Chrono Open
0930-1000: Safety Brief
1000-1400: Battle 1 Begins
1400-1500: Lunch Break
1500-1800: Battle 2 Begins
1800-1930: Resupply (Dinner Break)
1930-2000: Night Operations Safety Brief
2000-???: Night Operations Begin

Other necessary info:

Campsite Parking: $15.00
RV Parking: $20.00
Outfit Restrictions:
US Special Forces & Allies- Any Desert Camo
Liberation Army - Any Woodland Camo
Note: No Black Uniforms Allowed on Either Team

If you plan on attending the event, here are a few suggestions to make your long game weekend more comfortable:

  • Hydrate! If you've ever played at SC Viper during the summer, you know that Chino gets HOT. A camel pack is practically mandatory and bring plenty of sports drinks and water to refill it.
  • If you plan on attending both days, you can purchase a camp permit for $15.00 and park your vehicle overnight. This saves on gas and you can mingle with your teammates. There are also a couple of motels within driving distance should you need to shower. And for God's sake, please shower.
  • Bring spare AEG's. Unless you're a tech and can fix your own guns, I suggest bringing at least one backup weapon and spare batteries.
  • Ankle support! Because of the varied terrain, good ankle support and comfort are a necessity. At my last two day event, I ended up leaving early because I took a spill and nearly broke my ankle. SO in a word...BOOTS
That's it for now, airsofters! These overnight events are usually a lot of fun, so I hope to see you there! As always, play safe, play hard and call your hits!

XPower Airsoft Paintball Anti-personnel Claymore Landmine

Grim here, airsofters! This has to be, without a doubt, one of the most awesome pieces of equipment I have ever seen! The X-Power Anit-Personnel Claymore with thermal activation just became my favorite piece of airsoft tech. Powered by C02, it appears to includes the thermal detection, tripwire and clacker activation methods and is loaded with food grade powder to mark your victims. The video says it comes out in May of 2012, so I can't wait to see what retailers are going to be smart enough to pick this up. Holy shit-balls I'm excited about this! What about you, readers? Are you excited for this little beauty? What is your favorite piece of non-firearm airsoft gear? Leave your responses in the comments section be-lowwwww. As always, play hard, play safe and never take your airsoft guns out in public.

New Gear!

Hey airsofters, Grim here with an update on some new gear purchases that we're going to be reviewing over the next few days. I'm going to break it up into a couple of posts so as not to overwhelm anyone that doesn't want to read a three page post. We're also going to try and put up our first video reviews once we figure how to work the damned thing. First up we have a couple of new pieces of gear that Ironhead purchased: an NcSTAR DAB Red/Green Dot Sight from Amazon

and a Diamond Tactical ACU Plate Carrier purchased from Airsoft Megastore

I also got a few pieces of new gear I'll be posting reviews of once they are field tested. Once we get the sight field tested we'll post a review, but the vest review should be up later today. Also, if you are regular reader or even a new visitor to the blog I would encourage you to leave some comments, questions or general feedback regarding the blog or airsoft in general. I'd like to know how everyone likes or dislikes the format and if there are any airsoft related posts you would like to see. I know the site is very light on video footage, but we are working on remedying that in the next few weeks. Thanks for reading and remember to play safe, play hard, and call your hits!

This hit called itself!

Kids, this is what happens when you don't wear full face protection. Courtesy of the OpFor at SC Viper in Chino.

Ironhead lives up to his name, although "bb magnet" might be more fitting.
